A permanent magnet unit (10) includes: a magnet body (12) formed by plate-shaped permanent magnets each having magnetic poles at the both ends in the thickness direction and layered one after another to stick to one another; paramagnetic member (30) having an inversed-V-shape cross section and attached to one end surface of the magnetic body; a paramagnetic base side yoke (16) attached to the other end of the magnetic body; and coupling means (20) for coupling the plate-shaped permanent magnets, the paramagnetic member (30) having the inversed-V-shape cross section, and the base side yoke into a unitary block.
