Abstract

Enhanced and expanded telephonic ringback and call waiting services offering additional flexibility and service for subscribers, and additional marketing and revenue opportunities for Service Providers to render billable services. Current services play ringback clips to callers while call placement is completed, and discontinue the playing of ringback clips as soon as the call is placed or when it is determined that the call cannot be placed because the called party is busy or does not answer. Enhanced services according to the present invention allow the caller to extend the play of the ringback clip when the call cannot be placed, and to defer call placement while the ringback clip plays. Ringback clips may also be customized by subscribers for different callers or groups of callers. Extended ringback clip play and subscriber options may be billable by the Service Provider and used in marketing promotion.
