A method for generating multiple primary color signals. First, a gamma correction function T=f(G), an input grayscale value I_1 of a first primary color signal, an input grayscale value I_2 of a second primary color signal, and an input grayscale value I_3 of a third primary signal are provided. Then, an output grayscale value O_1 of the first primary color signal, an output grayscale value O_2 of the second primary color signal, an output grayscale value O_3 of the third primary color signal, and an output grayscale value O_4 of an added primary color signal are determined according to the input grayscale values I_1, I_2, I_3, and the gamma correction function T=f(G), such that a proportion of output brightness of the first primary color signal, the second primary color, and the third primary color signal [f(O_1)+f(O_4)]:[f(O_2)+f(O_4)]:f(O_3) equals a proportion of input brightness of the first primary color signal, the second primary color, and the third primary color signal f(I_1):f(I_2):f(I_3).
