Abstract

The present invention discloses an object detection system and method, which are applied to an active monitor for detecting at least one target object that appears within a concerned zone. The system and method comprise: a processor used for dividing the concerned zone into at least a first zone and a second zone; a controller used for assigning a first weight to the first zone and assigning a second weight to the second zone, wherein the first weight is higher than the second weight; and a first image capturing device used for capturing an image of the target object that appears within the first zone before capturing the image of the target object that appears within the second zone. Accordingly, by utilizing the active monitor system to detect the target object by means of assigning multiple zones and multiple weights, the efficiency and precision of target selection could be increased, and the interference of environmental variables could be reduced.
