Abstract

Provided is a surface light source device for a liquid crystal display with a large screen. The surface light source device includes: a main body having an inner space where a discharge gas is provided; at least one main partition wall for patiotioning the inner space into a plurality of discharge spaces, and an electrode for applying a discharge voltage to the discharge gas, wherein a transverse length of the main body is longer than a vertical length of the main body, and the main partition wall is formed in a vertical direction.
