Abstract

A method of forming a line profile is provided. Firstly, two virtual lines are formed at opposite sides of a given line respectively, and the two virtual lines are parallel to the given line. Then, the virtual line is divided into at least a section respecting to a testing point on the given line with the length identical to the length of the grids on the surface profile. The section is divided into a plurality of portions located in different grids respectively. By using the length of the portions and the height of the respected grids, together with the distance between the virtual lines and the given line, the height of the testing point is determined.
