Abstract
A kind of adjustable optical fiber amplifier and laser using discrete fundamental-mode cutoff comprises at least an optical fiber which possesses an input end and an output end, respectively, and at least a short-wavelength-pass filter distributed on the optical fiber at intervals for generating fundamental-mode cutoff wavelength to form an optical fiber amplifier. Moreover, at least a set of resonant chamber is installed on the optical fiber to form a laser. Therefore, this invention uses the discrete fundamental-mode cutoff method to inhibit gain of the Er-doped optical fiber on the C band so that the S band with shorter wavelength can obtain sufficient optical gain to amplify signals.
