Abstract

The present invention relates to an electron source. The electron source includes a pair of electrical magnetic coils, a plurality of filaments and two cathodes prone to each other. The filaments are disposed between the pair of electrical magnetic coils so that the electrical magnetic coils can heat up the filaments to make the filaments emit electrons. A cavity is formed between the two cathodes. The cavity includes a first opening and a second opening. The size of the second opening is larger than the size of the first opening. The pair of electrical magnetic coils and the filaments are disposed in the second opening respectively. The direction of the first opening is the same as the emission direction of the electrons. The electron source can enhance the emission of the electrons. The present invention also relates to a plane light source device using the electron source. The brightness of the plane light source device is high. The plane light source device is environment friendly.
