Abstract

A focusing method for an image-grabbing device is disclosed. The focusing method first determines a maximal contrast value and a corresponding first position of a focus lens by a focus procedure. Next, the focus lens is set to shoot a focus picture corresponding to each of a plurality of different positions, and a second position of the focus lens is then selected from these positions according to file sizes of a plurality of peripheral regions of each focus picture. Last, the focusing method compares the first and second positions to generate an adjusting step, and then adjusts the position of the focus lens according to the adjusting step. By applying this method, the unbalanced resolution of the image-grabbing device can be improved, thereby upgrading the overall resolution and performance of the image-grabbing device.
