Abstract

The invention concerns a kind of high Cr cast iron having excellent fatigue crack resistance and the manufacturing method thereof, in which even if under high hardness and in repeated tensile stress environment, brittle fracture because of fatigue crack propagation can be prevented. The high Cr cast iron contains certain high Cr casting iron compositiom and has a structure where the size of martensite is refined and retained austenite is comprised by a fixed amount, and the structure may be obtained by solidification and cooling speed upon specific casting, quenching holding temperature, quenching holding time, and quenching cooling speed, and hardness is not less than 800Hv, toughness is not less than Charpy impact value 2.0J/cm<SP>2</SP>, and whose threshold of stress intensity factor range Δkth where fatigue crack propagation does not occur is not less than 10.
