Abstract

An absorbent article has an absorbent pad for absorbing urine, which is suitable for both large and small quantities of urine discharge, and can easily and reliably retain urine. A fluid permeation sheet is provided as a surface of an absorbent body which is formed, of a pulp and a super absorbent resin. The fluid permeation sheet is composed of a skin-application part having elastic elements, side fixing portions, and raised portions. The raised portions having a bending room part incorporated therein. A hollow portion that is surrounded with the skin-application part and the raised portions, is formed on the absorbent body. When a small quantity of urine is discharged, the absorbent body is able to absorb the urine because the skin-application part fits closely to the skin. When a large quantity of urine is discharged, the urine is retained in the hollow portion and is then absorbed by the absorbent body.
