Abstract

A broadband antenna employs an aspect ratio of a loop structure and uneven loop linewidth to achieve broadband operation characteristics and to provide a quasi-omni-directional radiation pattern. The antenna uses a conductor backed coplanar waveguide to coplanar strip (CBCPW-to-CPS) transition circuit for feeding, wherein return losses in the operating band are all less than -10 dB so as to enlarge an operating bandwidth by 123%, obtain quasi-omni-directional radiation patterns on the YX plane and the XZ plane, and achieve an gain, 4-8 dBi. Besides, a broadband and low-loss adapter is used to connect a feed-in network and a balance radiating unit to ensure that the inputted energy can be fed into an antenna through different conducting structure to attain the object of a broadband antenna. The broadband antenna of the present invention can not only satisfy the requirements of the front-end receiving element for the impulse radio communication technique, but also be applied to high-speed wireless local area network communication, so as to integrate communication system operated in different bands.
