The fabrication of continuous enstatite (MgSiO3) ceramic fibers via a chemical modification of sol-gel route is developed in this invention. Especially, concerning a method using chemical modification of alkoxide precursors of magnesium and silicon with glacial acetic acid and transparent sols that are prepared by controlling the solubility, molecular structure, and gelation rate; continuous enstatite fibers are then produced directly from the sols via the procedures of polycondensation, spinning, drying, and sintering. The lengths of dried gel fibers are 5~80 cm. After heating at 1100 DEG C, the enstatite fibers obtained have average crystallite sizes of 45~80 nm and lengths of 3~60 cm; on heating to 1300 DEG C, the average crystallite size, length, specific surface area, and dielectric constant (at 1 MHz) of fibers are of around 0.1~0.2 μm, 2~50 cm, 5.5~9.5 m2/g and 5.2 (± 0.5), respectively.
