Abstract

This invention provides power management equipment and the method thereof. It is suitable for the power management of the power utilized between the general system and the battery charging. For example, the power device utilized for the system and the battery in a portable computer. After the power is turned on, using power comprising elements such as comparison circuit and the current-limiting resistor, the detection circuit detects the total power supply capacity of the power source, the consumption power for the system and the power capacity of power storage device. After comparing the total power supply capacity of the power source, and the consumption power for the system, the enough remaining power capacity provides the charging for the power storage device. When the power capacity is running low, it enables the processor of the system to operate under lower frequency or lower voltage. Eventually, it achieves the effects of saving power, high efficiency and reducing cost.
