Abstract

A highly thermal conductive metal matrix carbon composite material with three-dimensional (3-D) crosslinking carbon fibers and a method for producing the same are described. The graphitized 3-D vapor grown carbon fibers having high thermal conductivity and excellent continuity act as the added carbon material, which have 3-D crosslinking structure and surfaces of which have a metal carbide film formed thereon, so as to improve the compounding quality and increase the content of the carbon material in the metal matrix. Therefore, the thermal conductivity of the metal matrix carbon composite material can be increased substantially, and then heat dissipation rate of a thermal device produced by the metal matrix carbon composite material is improved.
