Abstract

This invention relates to a fast and automatic channel-scanning method. It is applied to a wireless digital TV set top box. The wireless digital set top box comprises a tuner. The tuner is employed to scan digital TV channels. It includes a buffer unit for temporarily storing a status of scanned channels. The method comprises the following procedures: firstly, while the tuner scans a channel, it reads a buffering value in the buffer unit. Further, it determines if the scanned channel contains a channel signal therein. If yes, it obtains a channel information of the scanned channel provided by the tuner and recording the information and then enabling the tuner to scan next channel. If no, it enables the tuner to directly scan next channel. Furthermore, it repeats the aforementioned procedures until all channels are scanned. By means of this way, it improves the automatic channel-scanning speed of wireless digital TV signal.
