Abstract

Disclosed herein is a light guide plate for liquid crystal display (LCD) back light units having excellent brightness, uniformity, and visibility. The light guide plate comprises a main body including opposite side surfaces, upon which light is incident, and front and rear surfaces connected to the opposite side surfaces for allowing the light to exit therethrough, a plurality of front prisms, having a predetermined sectional shape, disposed at the front surface of the main body, and a plurality of dot prisms disposed lengthwise and crosswise at the rear surface of the main body such that the dot prisms are spaced a predetermined distance from each other, each of the dot prisms being provided at the surface thereof with prism parts having a predetermined sectional shape, the dot prisms being arranged in a pattern in which the sizes of the dot prisms gradually increase as the dot prisms become more distant from at least one of the opposite side surfaces, upon which the light is incident.
