Abstract

The invention relates to a liquid crystal (LC) medium, its use for electrooptical displays, in particular for LC displays (LCD) using LC media with negative dielectric anisotropy and homeotropic orientation in the field- off state such as LCDs based on the ECB (Electrically Controlled Birefringence) or VA (Vertically Aligned) mode, including further developments like the MVA (Multidomain VA), PVA (Patterned VA) or ASV (Advanced Superview) mode and the like, and to displays of the above- mentioned types.
