Abstract

This invention discloses a color-sequential type backlight module providing tunable color gamut and color temperature, and the modulation algorithm herein. This backlight module includes a color manipulating and controlling unit (34), a light source module (32), an electric circuit (33) for driving the light source module (32), and a light diffusing mechanism (31). The said light source module (32) may include light emitting diodes (LEDs) of three or more than three different spectral characteristics, and there should be one or more than one of each kind of LED. By virtue of the manipulation of the program embedded in the color manipulating and controlling unit (34), this unit can export the electric signals, such as electric voltage or electric current, and the synchronization timing to drive each LED in the light source module (32) to obtain the calculated brightness of each LED; consequently, the color gamut and color temperature of this backlight module can be adjusted.
