Abstract

Described is a device (V1,V2) for pressing at least two layers of a folded base (B1) of a multilayer composite package, the base (B1) having varying thickness over its area due to the fold, and the surface (1,8) of the device provided for pressing the layers having pressing elements (7,11) for pressing the layers in the base areas having lower thickness. The object of reducing the risk of damage to the package base (B1), leaks, and contamination of the base (B1) and better accommodating longitudinal seam tolerances is achieved in that the pressing elements (7,11) are cap-shaped. The present invention also relates to a multilayer composite package of folded cardboard provided with at least one plastic coating.
