Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for automatically switching character input methods. In the system of document processing, two character input methods can be automatically switched when an input apparatus is used to perform the two character input methods. These two character input methods include the non-phonetic character input method and the phonetic character input method. The method comprises the following steps: receiving the key value from the input apparatus; confirming the input code of the non-phonetic character input method and the input code of the phonetic character input method corresponding to the key value; and determining whether the input code of the non-phonetic character input method is a legal input combination. If the input code of the non-phonetic character input method is a legal input combination, at least one Chinese character corresponding to the legal input combination and one selection row corresponding to the input code of the phonetic character input method are displayed. If the input code of the non-phonetic character input method is not a legal input combination, the input code of the phonetic character input method is displayed.
