Abstract

To obtain a portable terminal capable of firmly keeping its two casings closed, capable of easily releasing their locking too, and capable of preventing the two casings from opening (being opened) unexpectedly, when the terminal is taken out from or put into a pocket or bag. The portable terminal is provided a coupling device 3 which couples two casings 1, 2 foldably with their one-side ends 1a, 2a separated at a predetermined interval, and has restoring force for returning the two casings 1, 2 from a folded state to an open state. The other-side ends 1b, 2b on sides opposite to the one-side ends 1a, 2a of the two casings 1, 2 have a locking means 41 for keeping the two casings 1, 2 in the folded state and resisting the restoring force of the coupling device 3. This locking means 41 is composed of a first locking member 43 extending beyond one casing 1, and a second locking member 45 which extends beyond the other casing 2 and laps a part thereof over the first member 43.
