Abstract

The present invention discloses a notebook computer capable of automatically detecting ambient volume and controlling output volume and method of same. The notebook computer includes an ambient volume detecting and output volume control device and an ambient volume detecting unit, for detecting the ambient volume of where the notebook computer is used. When the notebook computer detects a signal for turning on/off preset mute of the notebook computer, a sound effect output device enters mute mode. When the notebook computer once again detects a signal for turning on/off preset mute of the notebook computer, the ambient volume detecting device detects the ambient volume at that time, and controls the output volume of the audio output device to a predetermined volume level according to the ambient volume level as detected.
