Abstract
This invention relates to an electronic torque wrench, which includes a main body having a head part and a handle, a strain-sensor device that is detachably installed in a longitudinal slot on the handle and consists of a strain body and a strain-sensor element, an operation circuit connected to the strain-sensor element, and a display device connected to the operation circuit. The handle has a modulus of elasticity, called the first modulus of elasticity herein. The longitudinal installation slot on the handle comprises an enclosing wall consisting of a front wall, a rear wall, a right wall, and a left wall. The strain body has a front contact end, a rear contact end, and a middle section; and has a modulus of elasticity, which is smaller than the first modulus of elasticity and is called the second modulus of elasticity herein. Both the front contact end and the rear contact end have two side surfaces, and one front-end surface or one rear-end surface respectively. The middle section has a right side surface and a left side surface. The strain-sensing elements are affixed on at least one side surface of the middle section. When the strain-sensing device is installed in the installation slot, the two side surfaces of its front contract end and rear contract end will contact with the right wall and left wall of the slot respectively; while the front-end surface and rear-end surface will not contact with the front wall and rear wall of the slot respectively, i.e. there will be a gap on each end. Moreover, there is a first lateral gap formed between the right (or the left) side surface of the middle section of the strain body and the right (or the left) wall of the slot; and a second lateral gap formed between each strain-sensing element and the right or the left wall of the installation slot respectively.
