Abstract

In this invention (A method of electroplating Palladium-Silver alloys.), a new electrolyte composition which takes chlorides as the principal species for Palladium-Silver (Pd-Ag) alloys electroplating technique has been developed. The Pd-Ag alloys are wildly used in electronics, petrochemical, and catalytic industries as electronic contacts and hydrogen catalysts in recent years. Now the fabrication methods for these alloys are used electroless, spattering, and cold rolled popularly. In this invention the electrolyte composition is composed of Palladium Chloride, Silver Chloride, Lithium Chloride, Ammonia Hydroxide, Hydrochloride, and EDTA as additives of pH stabilizer. Compared with the other fabrication methods, the electroplating method can reduce alloy-prepared time, and equipment costs. Since the electrolyte was a non-toxic electroplating process, therefore, an enables safe operation which complying readily with the waste electrolyte-disposal regulations.
