Abstract
The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for defrost, to achieve the object of saving energy and assuring high quality. In the method according to this invention, the article (1) to be defrosted is defrosted in a defrost region (2) with a low pressure steam, the method being characterized by controlling the temperature and pressure in the defrost region (2) at predetermined values by reducing the pressure in the defrost region (2) while the steam is being supplied to the defrost region (2) and the rate of reducing pressure is being regulated. The defrost apparatus is characterized in having steam supply means (3) for supplying steam to the defrost region (2), pressure reducing means (4) for reducing pressure in the defrost region (2), detection means (7) for detecting the temperature or the pressure in the defrost region (2), and controlling means (8) for controlling the values detected by the detecting means (7) by harmonically operating the pressure reducing means (4) while supplying the steam by the steam supplying means (3).
