Abstract
A carbon nanotube illumination device is provided, which includes a hollow transparent conductive tube coated therein phosphor, and a carrier distributed with a carbon nanotube. The former connects with an anode and the latter connects with a cathode. The electron is excited and impacts on the phosphor of the inside sidewall of the tube to produce luminescence. Because the carbon nanotube is used as an emission source, it has a better field emission characteristic. That is, it has a lower threshold electric field and a higher current density. Furthermore, a gate electrode can be provided at the same time to induce the electron emission of the carbon nanotube so as to lower the required working voltage.
