Abstract
The present invention provides a data protection method for compact disc, which is used to prevent the arbitrary copy of data on the compact disc without authorization. The method includes the following steps: first selecting a plurality of data fields from the disc stored with protected data; wherein, each data field contains the data area and the error checking area; next, changing the stored data in the data area, but keeping the error checking code originally stored in the error checking area; then, encrypting and protecting the updated data area and establishing a damage track to falsely guide the theft-copying software to directly calculate the data originally stored in the data area based on the error checking code and conduct the duplication. Moreover, the method could be linked with other data protection technique to form a protection chain for mutually limiting the theft copier, so as to prevent the illegal duplication of compact disc data without authorization.
