A method for culturing chlorella species is provided. An autotrophic growth method, hetertrophic growth method and mixotrophic growth method are provided in the present invention. The autotrophic growth method includes adding the chlorella specie in a culture medium and continuously illumination until the cells of the chlorella specie grow to an exponential phase. The hetertrophic growth method includes adding the chlorella specie in a culture medium containing a carbon source and let the cells of the chlorella specie grow to the exponential phase. The mixotrophic growth method includes adding the chlorella specie in a culture medium containing a carbon source and continuously illumination until the cells of the chlorella specie grow to the exponential phase. The present invention let the growth of the chlorella specie rapid and productive, facilitating its applications in health and medicine.
