Abstract

This invention provides a planar light source device. It can automatically correct the variation in chromaticity and luminance of the illuminating ray for the changes in temperature or aging. A planar light source device comprises a case, a diffuse plate, a light source, a reflecting plate, and a controller. The case possesses an aperture. The diffuse plate is arranged at the aperture and diffuses the entered light. The light source is equipped in the case. The reflecting plate reflects the light from the light source toward the diffuse plate. The device has the characteristic that comprises a light sensor. The light sensor is arranged opposed to the diffusion plate. It detects the light from the diffusion plate. According to the detected value of the light sensor, the controller adjusts the amount of emitting light from the light source.
