Abstract

This invention relates to a method for evaluating the effects of a medicine for rheumatoid arthritis therapy, by using peptidylarginine deiminase type IV, and to a method for predicting the risk of incidence of a rheumatoid arthritis. In other words, this invention provids a method for evaluating the effects of a test substance as a medicine for rheumatoid arthritis therapy, which is using peptidylarginine deiminase gene type IV or its ortholog, or the inhibition effects against the protein encoded by the said gene as a marker. In addition, this invention provids a method for predicting the risk of incidence of a rheumatoid arthritis in a subject, which is based on the expression level of a mutant protein of peptidylarginine deiminase type IV having amino acids sequence of SEQ ID NO:21 or the gene(SEQ ID NO:20) in a specimen.
