Abstract

The present invention discloses the prepit detect method and the optical disk device for the method in which the detected rate of the prepit can be increased by decreasing the error detected or the unavailable detected of the prepit under the condition of using different recording medium or optical system. In the present invention, the binary signal of the prepit is produced by converting the push pull signal including the preit signal into the binary signal with predetermined slice level, detecting the prepit by the produced prepit binary signal, determining the detected state of the prepit by using the sync code or the ECC information which buried in the detected prepit, by calculating the detected rate and controlling the feed back, the detected rate of the prepit can be increased by setting the slice level to a suitable value.
