Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide a discharge lamp lighting device to stop the oscillation when the filament is broken, which can prevent the inverter circuit from heating and the circuit from malfunction. The discharge lamp lighting device comprises: an inverter circuit IV; a driving circuit I to drive the inverter circuit IV; a load circuit LAC of discharge lamp having a stabilizing choke T1; a secondary winding T1a installed on the stabilizing choke T1; a secondary voltage detection section 2 to detect the voltage generated by the secondary winding T1a; a high-frequency filter section 3 to filter out the high-frequency component of the voltage detected by the secondary voltage detection section 2; a detection section 4 to detect the peak value of the outputted voltage from the high-frequency filter section 3; and a determination section 5 to determine whether the lamp bulb LA is broken or open-circuited when the output voltage from the detection section 4 is below the detection reference value for the broken filament, so as to output the stop signal to the driving circuit 1.
