Description

Description of the invention: I: Technical field to which the invention belongs] FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates generally to the technology of electrical connectors, and in particular relates to a general electrical connector used to connect between two circuit boards. to make. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A variety of electrical connectors have been used to connect circuits 10 on different printed circuit boards. These printed circuit boards must be capable of effectively and reliably connecting circuits on one circuit board to another circuit board. On the way of the circuit, the connection benefits are combined together. This is achieved by a pair of mating connectors, and the mating connectors are surface mount connectors and may include a male or plug connector mated with a female or socket connector to form a "board-to-board," 15 Electrical connector assembly. Here, FIG. 27 shows an example of a typical board-to-board electrical connector assembly disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 08-148240A (Figure 9). As shown in FIG. A plug or male connector indicated by 32 is inserted into a socket or female connector indicated by 34 in the direction of arrow A ". The male connector 20 includes a majority of the majority of the conductive terminals 36, and the conductive terminals 36 and Most of the female terminals of the female connector are bonded. The terminals 36 of the plug connector 32 are connected to a circuit 40 on a first circuit board c through a plurality of solder connection portions 44, and the female connector 34 is connected to a circuit on the second circuit board 48 through a plurality of solder connection portions. Line 46. In the case of these connectors, 5 solid lines indicate their unmated states and dotted lines indicate their mated states. With the trend towards miniaturization of the entire system and thus miniaturization of all electrical components in the electronics industry, board-to-board electrical connectors must not only have a low profile, but also in the case where two circuit boards are mated, in such circuit boards The distance "S" between 5 must be as small as possible. Unfortunately, as the number of terminals and the number of solder connection portions 44 and 50 increase, it is difficult to reduce the distance "S" between two circuit boards. Therefore, there have been methods for reducing this pitch in the prior art, such as those disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 2001-273949 and shown here in FIGS. 28 and 29. As shown in the figure, a female connector indicated generally at 52 houses a male connector indicated generally at 53. The male connector is surface-mounted to a first circuit board 54 and the female connector 52 is surface-mounted to一 second circuit board 55. At the same time, these connectors are shown in Fig. 29 with a solid line to indicate their unmated state and a dotted line to indicate that the male connector is in its fully mated state. 15 The male connector can be mated with the female connector in the direction of the arrow "A" (Figure 29). The male connector 53 includes a plurality of conductive terminals connected to the appropriate circuit lines on the circuit board 54 by a plurality of solder connection portions 44, and the female connector 52 includes a plurality of conductive terminals 20 connected to the appropriate circuit lines on the circuit board 55. 57. In order to reduce the distance between the circuit boards 54 and 55 when the connectors 52 and 53 are mated as shown in FIG. 29, the mating surface 58 of the female connector 52 has a recessed area that receives the solder connection portion 44 of the male connector 53. 59. The recessed area is not shown in Fig. 28. By providing a recessed area in the mating surface of the female connector, the circuit boards 54 and 55 can be closer together at 6 414635 when the connectors are mated. Unfortunately, the conventional connectors shown in Figures 27 and 28 and 29 both have dust and dirt that can enter the mating interfaces of these connectors and accumulate on the mating terminals, which will be caused by The accumulation of dust and dirt makes the electrical and gas contact ineffective. Access to the mating terminals in Figure 27 is quite clear, and Figure 29 shows how the recessed area 59 opens on the side of the connector assembly so that dust and dirt can enter the connection interface of these terminals. FIG. 30 shows another prior art electrical connector assembly disclosed in Japanese Laid-Open Publication No. 2000-26605005 (Figure 1), as shown in FIG. The connector 60 can be mated with a female connector 62. The male connector includes a plurality of conductive terminals 63 having a contact portion 64, and the terminals 63 are combined with the contact portions 65 of most of the conductive terminals 66 of the female connector 62. The terminal 63 of the male connector is connected to an appropriate circuit on a first circuit board 68 through a solder connection 44 and the terminal 66 of the female connector 62 is connected to a second circuit through a solder connection 44 15 Appropriate circuit wiring 69 on the board 70. The connector structure shown in FIG. 30 indicates that another disadvantage of the board-to-board connector assembly is that it is difficult to determine when the male and female connectors are fully mated, in other words, the contact of the terminal 66 of the female connector 62 The portion 65 spans only along the straight surface of the contact portion 64 of the terminal 63 of the male connector 60. The smooth sliding relationship between the contact portions 20 of the two connectors does not produce any sensory indication or "feel" when the connectors are mated. ~ In order to solve the aforementioned problem of the conventional connector assembly shown in FIG. 30, the figure shows-the terminal 63 having a contact portion 64, and the contact portion can be-corresponding to the aforementioned terminal of Fig. 30 The contact part of terminal ^ is 7-way. However, it should be noted here that in Fig. 31, the terminal 63 has a recessed or cut-out area 71, and the contact portion 65 of the terminal 66 "clicks in. This recessed area 71 provides a certain This form of sensory indication. Unfortunately, due to the miniaturization of these connector assemblies, this recessed area 71 has become too small so that the operator actually has only a very small "feel". The present invention is intended to solve the aforementioned problems of the prior art. Various problems and a board-to-board electrical connector assembly are particularly provided. The board-to-board electrical connector assembly can effectively reduce the space between two circuit boards when a pair of connectors are mated, and can effectively prevent dust and Dirt enters the joint contact area between the terminals of these mating connectors. [Sun and Moon are poor—] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a new and new method for establishing a connection between two circuit boards. Improved board-to-board electrical connector assembly. The edges of the positioning protrusions 86 form a rounded edge to guide the 10 positioning protrusions 86 into the positioning holes 80. Referring to Figs. 2 and 12, the terminal receiving channels 82 extending through the opposite side 77d of the housing 77 of the female connector 73 are closed on the outside and open on the inside. In other words, the receiving passage 82 communicates with the mating recess portion 77b of the female connector. Each terminal 78 includes a main body portion 78a having teeth 78b for biting into the plastic material of the housing at opposite sides of each receiving passage 82. These terminals can be forged from a conductive sheet metal material, and the teeth 78b are forged at the opposite edges of the main body portion 78a. A first arm portion 78c protrudes from one end of the main body portion 78a through the insulating case and forms a tail portion of an appropriate circuit line 75a (FIG. 3 20) for connecting the circuit board 75, and a second arm portion 78d It protrudes from the opposite end of the main body portion 78a and enters the butt recessed portion 77b to reach the contact portion 78e to couple the contact portion of one of the terminals 84 of the male connector 74 as described below. As shown in FIG. 12, the contact portion 78e is circular and the reference numeral 78f indicates a point where the contact portion protrudes farthest from the butt recessed portion 77b and is furthest from the main body portion 78a. The edge of the round 14 200414635 contacting part A returns to the edge of 78g at an angle and extends backward toward the main body part 78a, while the distal end 78g is convex at a distance less or shorter than the furthest convex point 78f. Into the butt recess. When the contact portion of the terminal 84 slides beyond the farthest protruding point 78fB, this structure forces the first and second connectors to be connected together. Still referring to FIGS. 2 and 12, the terminal receiving channels 83 a in the housing 83 of the male connector 74 are located at opposite edges of the housing, and therefore, the receiving channels are closed on the inner side and located at Its outside is open. Each terminal 84 includes a main body portion 84a, and the main body portion 84a has a plurality of teeth 84b at the opposite edges thereof for biting the plastic material teeth 84b at the opposite edges of the terminal accommodation channels 83a, similar to the terminals 78. The terminals 84 are forged and formed from a conductive sheet metal material, and the teeth 84b are forged and formed at the opposite sides of the main body portion 84a. Therefore, the terminals can be press-fitted into the receiving channels 83a. Each terminal 84 of the male connector 74 includes a first arm portion 84c. The first arm 15 portion 84c protrudes from the insulation case 83 at one end of the main body portion 84a and defines a circuit line for connecting to the circuit board 76. At the tail of 76a (FIG. 4), the first arm portion 84c is bent so that it can protrude on one side facing the circuit board 76 to form a convex section 84d. The solder storage recess of the surface tension storage solder 87 is to establish a good solder between the first arm portion 84c and each of the circuit lines 76a of the circuit board 7620. The terminal 84 of the male connector 74 further includes a first arm portion 84e which is bent outward from the main body portion 84a at 84f to a contact portion 84g protruding outward from each of the terminal accommodation channels 83a, so as to couple with the female connector. The contact portion 78e of each terminal%. 15 200414635 Brother 12-17 shows tf when the male connector 74 and the female are connected to cry 73 but dock with Rishou 'continuous view of connection 7 and 4' The male connector charges `` a '' (brother (Figure 12) into the mating recess 77b of the female connector. Since there is a projection 84d outside the terminal material of the male connector 74 provided with a solder storage cavity for solder 87, the The final distance can be reduced after these connectors are fully mated. Figure 13 shows that the contact portion 84g of the terminal 84 of the male connector 74 has been combined with the terminal 78 and the contact portion 78e of the female connector 73, which is when the male connection When the connector 74 is inserted into the mating recess 77b of the female terminal in the direction of the arrow "A", the terminals of each of the 10 connectors are combined for the first time. When the male connector 74 is further mated with the female connector 73, the male connector 15 20 The contact portion of the terminal 84 is arranged along the redundant contact portion of the terminal of the female connector, as shown in Fig. 14. When the contact portion of the material is biased outward, the terminals of Lai County are the most span. The longest convex point 78f 'of the contact part of the end issue is set as shown by the solid line and the dotted line in FIG. 14 Figures 15-18 show that when the male connector is fully inserted into the mating recess of the female connector, 7 sections of the male connector n74 are fully mated with the female connector. In Figure 15, it can be said that the bribe 83 of the male connector is completely set. On the top of the bottom wall 77e of the housing 77 of the female connector, at this time, the contact portion of the terminal 84 of the male connector has been moved to the remote end of 8% of the terminal 78 of the material connector. The contact part of the terminal of the male connector is connected to the lying part of the female connection crying terminal with the minimum joint reading force at the initial joint point shown on the top. The contact part of the terminal of the Dangcai connector When straddling the farthest convex point 78f of the female flail terminal, it will require a maximum of 16 200414635 until the contact portion of the male connector's terminal reaches 78g of the distal end of the female connector's terminal. Up to the final mating position, so when the connectors are fully mated, only the minimum mating force will be required. This not only produces a good contact bond between all the terminals, but also provides a good connection between these connectors. A good locking device, and when When the connectors are fully mated, a distinguishable tactile indication or "feel" can be produced. Figures 15-17 also show a unique feature of the present invention, in which the circuit board 76 completely closes the mating recess 77b when the connectors are mated. In fact, due to the structural form of the two connectors, not only the butt recessed portion 77b is completely closed, but the terminal receiving channel of the terminal 78 of the female connector and the terminal accommodating path 83a of the male connector are in the terminals. The docking interface is completely closed. As shown in FIG. 15, 'not only the housing 83 of the male connector is completely housed in the docking butt, but the money with the male connector is also substantially disposed in the docking recess. Therefore, the circuit board 76 is combined with the mating surface 77a 'of the female connector as shown in Fig. 15 and completely surrounds the mating recess to form a closed space 90. Therefore, it can prevent dust and dirt from entering the interface area between the connectors, and can prevent dust and dirt from accumulating on the contact parts of the terminals, otherwise the contact parts of the terminals will be polluted Of bonding surfaces. In order to ensure that the printed circuit board 76 closes the mating recess], the aforementioned 20-terminal configuration allows the connectors to be straddled at the most convex point 78f of the female connection H at the contact portions of the male connectors Upstairs-Pulled. Even if the circuit board 76 and the housing 77 are not completely coplanar, this can force the circuit board to keep in contact with the opposite side 77d of the housing 77. When the terminal is used without this pull,-or the terminals will maintain electrical continuity and the section 17 200414635 slides apart from each other 'at this time' one edge of the circuit board will be away from the housing and the The abutting recess 77b may be contaminated. Figures 18-22 show a second embodiment of the present invention combined in a board-to-board electrical connector assembly indicated generally at 101, and the board-to-board electrical connector 5-connector assembly includes a A first or female connector indicated by 107, and a second or male connector indicated generally by 109. The female connector is also surface-mounted to a first printed circuit board 75, and the male connector 109 is surface-mounted to a first printed circuit board 76. Referring to Figures 18, 19, and 22, the female connector 107 includes a molded plastic case having a rectangular shape generally indicated by 111 and having a plurality of terminals generally indicated by 113. The terminals are installed at a certain distance along two opposite sides of the case, as shown in FIG. 21. The four metal studs 115 can be surface-mounted on the circuit board 75 in a manner similar to that described in the first embodiment. The housing 111 of the female connector 107 has a mating recess 111a surrounded by two opposite long sides 11 ib and two phases 15 pairs of short sides 111c. A central "island" portion extends longitudinally downward along the center of the mating recess 111a, and the The central island portion has a relatively convex side 114a, as shown in FIG. 22. The terminal 113 is installed in the plurality of terminal receiving channels 123 at the relatively long side 111b of the housing. Finally, as in the first embodiment of the present invention, the four positioning holes 112 (FIG. 21) pass through 20 The bottom wall llld (FIG. 22) of the casing is formed. As shown in FIG. 21, the housing 111 of the female connector 107 is provided with two rows of terminals 113 on opposite sides of the central island U4. These terminals are forged and formed from conductive sheet metal materials, and the structure of these terminals is The type is shown in Figure 22. In detail, the terminals are installed in the relatively long side 111b of the housing, and each of the 18 terminals includes a major horizontal part II7a that is generally E-shaped in the lateral direction;-pressed into the hole 123a that fits the channel Central leg 117b;-an inner leg ii7c located in the groove portion 123b of the channel and inside the relatively long side mb of the housing; and a groove 123c in the channel and on the relatively long side of the housing 111] Outer legs 117d at 3 places. An arm 120 extends inward from the distal end of the inner leg 117c, away from the central leg 117b and close to the bottom wall of the casing 111, and reaches an upwardly extending arm portion 120b that is connected to a contact portion 120a at one end. The arm portion 120b is located in the convex side 114a and on one side of the central island portion 114 of the housing. The arm portion i2b and the contact portion 120a can be shown as solid lines and dotted lines in FIG. 22 bending. Because the arm 120 is longer than the arm portion 120b, the arm 120 will be 'equal' toward the bottom wall of the housing U1 before the contact portion 12 (^ bends away from the central leg 117b). A better tracking effect is generated between the edge of the portion 12a and the contact arms 121a. The distal end of the outer leg 11d of the terminal 113 is connected to the circuit line 75a of the circuit board 75 by 'such as soldering, as in section 21 Finally, as shown in FIG. 22, the relatively long side lllb of the housing ill and the central island portion 114, and the inner leg 117 () of the terminal 113, the arm 12 and the central island portion 114 will form two edges. The female connector's longitudinally extending mating recesses are shown in Figure 21. Please refer to Figures 20 and 22 in particular. The male connector 109 includes a terminal generally indicated by 118 and two rows of terminals approximately 121. The housing has a flat wall 118a and two long side portions U8b forming an elongated channel therebetween. The terminals 121 are the same number and the same distance from the relatively short side 11 lc of the female connector 107 For mounting, the housing 118 is substantially rectangular and four positioning protrusions 119 with rounded edges are formed on the housing. Corners, as shown in Figure 20, 200414635. Finally, the terminal 121 is installed in the terminal receiving channel 124 of the long side portion 118b of the housing. As shown in Figure 18, four metal rear nails 116 are pressed in Fitted in the long side portion 118b to fixedly connect the male connector to the circuit board 76. 5 As shown in FIG. 22, each terminal 121 includes a contact arm 121a, and the contact arm 121a is fitted by press-fitting Protruding from one end of the body portion 121b in each terminal receiving channel 24. The other arm 121c extends from the opposite end of the body portion 121b and forms a circuit for connecting to the circuit board 76 by, for example, soldering. The tail of 76a (Figure 20). The contact arm 121a is recessed and its function is similar to the contact portion 78e (Figure 12) of the terminal 78. In other words, a farthest protrusion point 121d is formed by a distal end I21e. The indented contact arm is formed. Figures 22-26 show the continuation of the process of mating the male connector 109 of the second embodiment of the board-to-board electrical connector assembly 101 to the male connector 109. View, in detail, FIG. 23 shows the contact of the terminal 121 of the male connector 10 to the 15 arm 121 a When the contact portion 120a of the terminal 113 of the female connector starts to contact. The contact arm portion 120b of the terminal 113 has not yet been bent. Figure 24 shows that when the contact portion 120a of the terminal 113 is placed across the contact arm When the farthest protrusion point 121a of 121a is on i21d, the contact arm i2ia of the terminal 121 bends the contact arm i2b of the terminal 113. Figures 25 and 26 show that the male connector 10 is fully mated with the female connector 1o. As shown in Fig. 7, the long side portion 118b of the housing 118 of the male connector 107 causes the two recesses 100 of the mating recess 111a of the female connector 107 to move. It can be found here that, similar to the first embodiment of FIGS. 1-17, substantially the entire male connector 109 is placed in the mating recess of the female connector, and the circuit board 76 is combined with the connection 20 200414635. The top abutment surface 13 of the stage body 111. In this way, as detailed in the first embodiment of FIG. 18, the mating part 111a of the female connector will be completely closed to prevent dust and dirt from entering the mating interface of the connector and the terminals. Interface. '5 员 上' will form a closed space 129 (Figure 25) between the connectors, and when the connectors are docked, the entire male connector 109 including the terminal 121 is housed in the closed space . The air flow will not be able to enter this closed space and therefore, it is impossible for dust and dirt to enter the closed space, so it can effectively prevent the contact failure caused by dust and dirt. As described in the first embodiment, the terminal structure pulls the connectors together, thereby making sure that the circuit board 76 is combined with the top abutment surface 130 of the housing U1 of the female connector. Similar to the first embodiment, this structure combination is also effective in an environment with high humidity or the generation of corrosive gas. It should be understood here that the present invention can be implemented in other specific forms without departing from its spirit and central characteristics. Therefore, the above examples and embodiments should be considered as illustrative and not restrictive in any way. And the invention is not limited to the details disclosed herein.
