An isolated antibody, or an antigen-binding subfaction of that antibody, that specifically binds to IL-22, whereby the antibody or antigen-binding subfaction comprises (a) a VH domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:23 and a VL domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:24; (b) a VH domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:59 and a VL domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:60; (c) a VH domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:77 and a VL domain comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:77. which is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:78, or (d) a VH domain composed of an amino acid sequence which is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:95 and a VL domain composed of an amino acid sequence which is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence defined in SEQ ID NO:96, and where (i) the aggregation constant of the human IL-22 antibody is at least 1010 M-1 as measured by real-time biospecific interaction analysis using (ii) an antibody blocking IL-22-dependent BaF3 cell proliferation with an IC50 of 150 picomolar or less, where the BaF3 cells are incorporated with a human IL-22 receptor, or (iii) an antibody blocking GROa secretion from IL-22-dependent HT29 cells with an IC50 of 150 picomolar or less.
