Abstract

This invention involves a process for producing suitable stiff bristle material for use in toothbrushes. It is made from synthetic fibers that have been mechanically roughened. The surface treatment of the non-endless fiber strips is achieved using a blasting machine. These stiff bristle materials are then used to create toothbrushes that are more effective at removing tartar.

Claims (4)

1. The process for producing stiff bristle material made from synthetic fibers suitable for use in toothbrushes begins with the direct formation of an endless strip by extrusion and fastening it onto a tensioning roller. A specific property resulting from this fastening is that the surface of this endless fiber strip is mechanically roughened. 2. The process described in Claim 1 results in a surface finish of coarse fibers using a blasting tool. 3. The appropriate fiber material for insertion into this toothbrush is surface-roughed according to the process of Patent 1 or 2. 4. A toothbrush consists of a handle and a brush head containing a large number of stiff bristles. The stiffness of the bristles consists partly of fibrous material or entirely of fibrous material that makes the surface rough according to claim 3 (Clause 4, page 1, figure 2).
