Abstract

The DC60 memory unit and storage media reproduction device will be provided for the augmented search function using various search keywords on audio-visual (AV) data. The device will consist of a search unit for finding scenes matched to the search keywords using the augmented search function on AV data by comparing metadata containing at least one search keyword information for each AV scene, and a reproduction unit that reproduces AV data matching at least one scene found by the search unit. The metadata will contain information on the input and/or duration, angle, etc., of each scene. Therefore, augmented search can be performed using a large number of search keywords. Furthermore, the search results can be reproduced according to various scenarios, and the augmented search function will be provided for film titles that support a number of angles or playback paths. Moreover, this metadata will be generated in different languages, which will enable the augmented search function to be used across different languages. The memory unit and storage media reproduction device will be provided for the augmented search function using various search keywords. With audio-visual (AV) data, the device includes a search set for finding scenes that match the search keywords. This is achieved by using an enhanced search function with the AV data, comparing it to metadata containing at least one keyword information for each scene in the AV data. A reconstruction set is then used to reproduce AV data that matches at least one scene found by the search set. The metadata includes information about the input and/or duration, angle, and other details of each scene. Therefore, enhanced searches can be performed using a large number of search keywords. Furthermore, search results can be reproduced across different scenarios, and enhanced search functions can be provided for a number of supported movie titles or playback paths. Moreover, this metadata can be generated in different languages, allowing enhanced search functions to be used across multiple languages.

Claims (5)

The replication device reproduces audio-visual (AV) data stored on storage media. The device consists of: 1. A search unit that finds scenes matching the search keywords by applying a search function to the AV data, comparing it to metadata containing at least one search keyword for each AV scene; and 2. A replication unit that reproduces the AV data matching at least one scene found by the search unit. 2. A device as defined in Claim 1 where metadata is defined for each scene. 3. A device as defined in Claim 1 where the replication unit finds the starting position of at least one found scene using an input point representing the starting position of at least one found scene. 4. A device as defined in Claim 1 that includes a user interface, which receives search keyword input from the user and displays the search results for each search keyword. 5. A device as defined in Claim 4 where the search results are displayed simultaneously. 6. A device as defined in Claim 1 where the enhanced search function is used when the movie title is reproduced. 7. A device as defined in Claim 1 where the enhanced search function is used when AV data is reproduced along the author-defined primary playback path and is not used when AV data is reproduced along the user-defined secondary or co-recorded playback path. 8. A device as defined in Claim 4 where, when a scene is found, the reproducer displays the found scene on the user interface and receives information on the selection of a particular found scene by the user, and subsequently reproduces the AV data corresponding to the selected scene. 9. A device as defined in Claim 8 where the reproducer reproduces AV data corresponding to the scene preceding or following the selected scene based on user input. 10. The media stores the information as specified in claim 23, where the metadata shall include information indicating the starting position and time period of the scene repetition. 5. The information media as specified in Claim 23 shall include at least one search keyword representing the type of scene, one or more search keywords representing one or more characters appearing in each scene, one or more search keywords representing one or more actors/actresses playing the corresponding characters, and search keywords representing search criteria established by the Creator.
