For a message internal structure consisting of several processing layers that provide certain initial functions for processing one or more messages, a computer program product consisting of a computer-readable medium containing computer-executable instructions that uses abstraction methods for a number of processing layers within the message internal structure so that subsequent changes or upgrades to the message internal structure can be made while preserving some of the initial functions. Such methods consist of the following steps: within the message layer, abstraction of the movement of one or more messages for use in one or more other layers within the message internal structure; within the channel layer above the message layer, abstraction of the exchange of one or more messages for use in one or more layers within the message internal structure; and within the service layer above the channel layer, abstraction of one or more bindings for binding one or more message exchanges to user codes corresponding to one or more message processing using the said message internal structure.
