DC60 (11/09/45) The timer (10) is provided with a housing (11) which is sized and shaped to accommodate a standard light fixture on it. The timer (10) also has a storage compartment (16) that extends from the perimeter side wall (14) and an electrical circuit (21). The electrical circuit (21) consists of a standard power cord (22) at the end of which is a male plug (23), a female electrical outlet (25) positioned to be accessible through the storage compartment (16), and a controller (26) which controls the current flowing from the power cord (22) to the female outlet (25). This assembly allows the light fixture to be placed directly on the timer (10), providing easy access to the timer for power control (10). The timer (10) is provided with a housing (11) which is sized and shaped to accommodate a standard light fixture on it. Mounted on top of it, the timer (10) also has a storage compartment (16) extending from the side wall along the perimeter (14) and an electrical circuit (21). The electrical circuit (21) consists of a normal electrical wire (22) at the end of which is a male plug (23), a female electrical outlet (25) positioned so that it is accessible through the storage compartment (16), and a controller (26) which controls the current flowing from the wire (22) to the female outlet (25). This assembly is made so that the light fixture can be mounted directly on the timer (10), thus providing easy access to the timer for power control (10).

Claims (12)

1. The timer, used with the light fixture, consists of a housing with a base and an upper wall shaped and sized to accommodate the light fixture, and side walls extending between the base and upper walls. The housing is adapted to support the light fixture positioned on the upper wall. A power cord extends from the housing with a male plug designed to fit into a standard female electrical outlet. A female electrical outlet, connected to the housing, is designed to accept the light fixture's male plug. A programmable control device automatically supplies power to the female outlet at pre-selected times via the power cord. 2. The timer of claim 1, which the programmable control device includes, includes a device for the user to disable the supply of power to the female electrical outlet at times other than those pre-selected. 3. The timer of claim 1, whose housing has an integrated storage compartment designed to accommodate the entire length of the electrical wiring for the luminaire. 4. The timer for claim 3, whose female electrical outlet is positioned for access through the aforementioned storage compartment. 5. The timer of claim 1, which will also include a second female receptacle protruding into the said housing, will be continuously supplied with power through the said wiring. 6. The timer of claim 1, the lowest part of which is incorporated into the housing, is made of flexible material. 7. A timer for use with standard electric light fixtures that have a long power cord with a male plug at the end. This timer consists of a housing sized and shaped to accommodate a standard light fixture, a long power cord extending from the housing with a male plug designed to fit into a standard female electrical outlet, a female electrical outlet attached to the housing designed to accept the light fixture's male plug, and a programmable control device for automatically supplying power to the female outlet via the power cord at pre-selected times. 8. The timer of claim 7, which is a programmable control device, includes a device to be operated by the user to interrupt the supply of power to the female electrical outlet at times other than the pre-selected time period. 9. The timer for claim 7, whose housing contains an internal storage compartment designed to hold the entire length of the electrical wiring for the luminaire. 10. The timer for claim 9, where the female electrical outlet is positioned for access through the aforementioned storage room. 11. The timer of claim 7, which will also include a second female receptacle protruding into the said housing, will be continuously supplied with power through the said wiring. 12. The timer for claim 7, the housing of which will also include a shock-absorbing cushion to be the bottommost part of the housing.
