Claims

1. A lubricant mixture containing polyalkylene glycol derivatives of the formula (I) : RX(RaO)x(RbO)y(RcO)zRd (I), where: X = O or S, R consists of C4 to C6 heterocyclic moistyls derived from tetrahydrofuran, methyl tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydrothiophene, methyl tetrahydrothiophene, furfuryl or tetrahydrofuryl attached directly to X or via hydrocarbil linkers, Ra denotes alkyl C2 groups, Rb denotes alkyl C3 groups, Rc denotes alkyl C4 groups, Rd is the same as R, or denotes H, C1-C20 alkyl or C1-C20 acyl, x, y, z each independent of each other denotes 0 or an integer equal to 100 or less, and x + y + z = 4 to 2. 100

2. A mixture as per claim 1, which includes additional refrigerants.

3. A mixture under claim 1, which includes additionally 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a), difluoromethane (R32), pentafluoroethane (R125), or 1,1,1-trifluoroethane (R143a), or a mixture thereof.

A mixture according to claim 1, where each Ra, Rb, Rc may be represented by the formula [-(Re)(Rf)-C(Rg)(Rh)-], where: in the case of Ra, each Re, Rf, Rg, and Rh represents hydrogen; in the case of Rb, one of Re, Rf, Rg, and Rh represents methyl and the other represents hydrogen; in the case of Rc, one of Re, Rf, Rg, and Rh represents ethyl or two of Re, Rf, Rg, and Rh represent methyl, the remainder represents hydrogen.

5. A mixture according to claim 1 in which one or two of x, y, and z represent zero.

6. A mixture under claim I, where Rd means methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl, hexyl or ayl, which may be selected to have a substituent group of methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl.

7. A mixture according to claim 1 in which x+y+z = 5 to 50.

A mixture according to claim 1 which is further incorporated with borate ester formula (III) [Ry-X-(RaO)r(RbO)s(RcO)t-O-]3-B (III), where X = O or S, Ry means C1-C10 alkyl, or substituents C3 to C15 incorporating a heterocyclic ring, where the heteroatoms in the ring mean oxygen and/or sulfur, Ra means alkyl C2, Rb means alkyl C3, Rc means alkyl C4, each independent value of r,s,t means 0, integers 50 or less, and r + s + t = 3 to 50 (inclusive of 3 and 50).

9. The mixtures as per claim 8, where Ry means methyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl, or hexyl.

10. A mixture pursuant to claim paragraph 8 in which borate ester is a product of orthobonic acid and propoxylate of methanol.

11. Mixtures under claim 8 in which borate ester formulation (III) is present in amounts from 1 to 25% by weight relative to the lubricant oil combined with ester only.

12. A mixture according to claim 7 in which x + y + z = 15 to 40.

13. A mixture according to claim 7 in which x + y + z = 15 to 25.

14. Method of dehydrating lubricating oil, which involves contact of the said lubricating oil with borate ester formula (III) : [Ry-X-(RaO)r(RbO)s(RcO)t-O-]3-B (III), where X=O or S, Ry is C1-C10 alkyl, or substituents C3 to C15 containing a heterocyclic ring, in which the heteroatoms in the ring are oxygen and/or sulfur, Ra means alkyl C2 group, Rb means alkyl C3 group, Rc means alkyl C4 group, r,s,t, each independently is 0 or an integer 50 or less, and r + s + t = 3 to 50 (inclusive of 3 and 50).
