At a weight ratio of i) to iii) of 20:1 or greater, the invention shall involve a method of reducing odor in a composition with CPE or RSE as defined above by the addition of at least one antioxidant. The invention is a fabric softening compound with increased odor resistance and which contains: i) a soft liquid or solid derivative of cyclic polyol (CPE) or reducing saccharide (RSE) resulting from 35 to 100% of the hydroxyl groups in the esterified or etherified polyol or saccharide; a CPE or RSE containing two or more ester or ether groups freely attached to alkyl or alkynyl chain of C8-C22, where at least one chain attached to the ester or ether group has at least one unsaturated bond; and ii) an adhesion agent; and iii) one or more antioxidants. At a weight ratio of i) to iii) of 20:1 or greater, the invention shall relate to a method of reducing the foul odor in a mixture of CPE or RSE as defined above by the addition of at least one antioxidant.

Claims

1. Fabric softening components consist of: I) Soft liquid or solid derivatives of cyclic polyols (CPE) or reducing saccharides (RSEs) resulting from 35 to 100% of the hydroxyl groups in an esterified or etherified polyol or saccharide; CPE or RSEs containing two or more freely attached ester or ether groups to a C8-C22 alkyl or alkenyl chain, at least one of which is attached to an ester or ether group with at least one unsaturated bond; and II) Adhesion agents; and III) Two or more antioxidants, containing at least one initiation inhibitor or at least one diffusion inhibitor, in a weight ratio of i) to iii) of 20:1 or more.

2. The composition pursuant to Claim 1, where CPE or RSE contains at least 35% ester or higher groups.

3. The composition according to claim 1 or 2, where CPE or RSE contains 40-80%, with 45-75% commonly esterified or etherified hydroxyl groups.

4. Any element under any of the preceding claims of the CPE or RSE contains four or more esterified or etherified hydroxyapons.

5. Components under any of the preceding claims that have obtained CPE or RSE from monosaccharides or disaccharides.

6. An element under any of the preceding claims, which selects an adhesion agent from cationic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, polymeric adhesion agents, fabric softeners, or mixtures of these.

7. The component under claim number 6, which states that the fabric softener compound is a quaternary ammonium compound.

8. The component of one of the preceding claims consists of 0.5%-50% by weight of CPE or RSE, with 1%-30% being commonly used.

9. An element as provided for in any of the preceding claims, in which the element contains 0.0001% to 1% by weight of one or more antioxidants.

10. A composition pursuant to any of the preceding claims where the weight ratio of CPE or RSE to antioxidant is 50:1 or greater, preferably 75:1 or greater.

11. A component as described in one of the preceding claims, which is a liquid, preferably an emulsion.

12. Methods for reducing odor in the composition include CPE or RSE as defined in Claim 1 by adding at least one initiation inhibitor and at least one diffusion inhibitor.
