Disposable pull-up diapers consist of an front waist area, a back waist area, and an in between-waist area. The diaper comprises a permeable top sheet, an impermeable back sheet, and an absorbent core installed between the top sheet. The front and back waist areas are joined along their opposite transverse lateral edges to create a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. The waist opening is fitted with a first elastic band, and the leg openings are fitted with similar elastic bands, respectively. These elastic bands extend under tension along the outer edges of the waist and leg openings, with several second elastic bands extending across the absorbent core at least once in the front and back waist areas between the opposite transverse lateral edges of the waist area. Specifically, these several second elastic bands are any ones whose tensile strength is lower than that of any one of the first elastic bands and extend across the absorbent core on their outer surface with a portion of the elastic band. The two aforementioned protruding parts, the opposing transverse lateral edges of the absorbent core, which are attached to the back panel and other parts extending between the opposing transverse lateral edges of the absorbent core, are not fused to either the back panel or the absorbent core. The core is not fused to the back panel in the area around the waist with the second elastic waistband, and is fused to the mid-back panel longitudinally below the groin.
