Abstract

DC60 (14/12/42) was prepared with a non-woven crumpled sheet in which at least 40 percent of the surface area consists of fused fibers. This crumpled non-woven sheet is bonded in such a way that no gaps appear between the folds. Such sheets exhibit equal compression resistance and resilience, and a greater basin volume than conventional sheets with fibers arranged in a straight X-Y plane. Furthermore, personal healthcare products were prepared with a crumpled non-woven sheet as a component, where the sheet is arranged transversely within the product. A non-woven sheet was prepared with a crumpled non-woven sheet in which at least 40 percent of the surface area consists of fused fibers. This crumpled non-woven sheet is bonded in such a way that no gaps appear between the folds. Such sheets exhibit equal compression resistance and resilience, and a greater basin volume than conventional sheets with fibers arranged in a straight X-Y plane. The equal compression and recovery properties, and the greater volume of the basin compared to conventional fiber sheets with fibers arranged in a straight X-Y plane, have led to the preparation of personal healthcare products featuring non-woven fiber sheets that are crumpled as an integral part of the product, with these fibers arranged in the transverse direction.

Claims (16)

1. A non-woven, crumpled sheet of fibers consisting of a textured surface where at least 40 percent of such surface area is made of fused fibers, and where the sheet is crumpled to create folds and fused in such a way that no gaps appear between the folds of the sheet. 2. The fiber sheet of claim 1, where such fiber sheet is made by one of the processes chosen from a group of which include spunbonding, melt blowing, air placement, co-forming and bonding and brushing. 3. The fiber sheet of Claim 1, whereby the fiber sheet consists of fibers with superior absorbency. 4. The fold sheet of Claim 1, where the aforementioned folds have uniform heights. 5. The fold sheet of Claim 1, where the aforementioned folds have uneven heights. 6. The weft sheet of Claim 1, where the weft sheet is folded by one of several methods chosen from a group of vertical and rotary folding. 7. Personal healthcare products containing fiber sheets of Charge 1, where such fiber sheets are aligned in the product in the opposite direction. 8. The personal healthcare product under claim 7, which is diapers. 9. The personal healthcare product under claim 7, which is walking training pants. 10. Personal healthcare product under claim 7, which is an adult diaper. 11. Personal healthcare product under claim 7, which is a bandage. 12. Personal healthcare products under claim 7, which are feminine hygiene products. 13. A layered sheet composed of crumpled non-woven fibers, comprising a surface area where at least 40 percent of that surface area is made up of meltable fibers, and where the fibers are crumpled to create folds and bonded in such a way that no gaps appear between these folds, and at least one layer selected from a group of non-woven materials, woven materials, knitted materials, pulp, paper, foils and foams. 14. A stacked sheet of claim No. 13, where the folds have uniform heights. 15. The stacked sheets of claim No. 13, where the folds have uneven heights. 16. A layered sheet of claim number 13, whereby such sheet consists of fibers with superior absorbency.
