Abstract

DC60 (08/06/42) A radiotelephone access request for a channel of a radiotelephone traffic channel is entered into a designated section of the randomly repeated serial access channel (RACH) based on the information relating to the radiotelephone access request. In this way, the RACH channel receiving the access request transmits additional information about the access request. This additional information can be transmitted and decoded without requiring any modification to the RACH model or extending the length of the RACH channel. Claims (42)

1. A radiotelephone communication system consisting of: - a number of radiotelephones; - at least one base station; - a number of radiotelephone traffic channels used by the radiotelephones for radiotelephone communication through at least one base station; - a random access channel (RACH) containing duplicate frames of the RACH used by the radiotelephones to request entry into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels by placing the channel request message in the RACH; and - a method for routing channel requests by the radiotelephones into a designated channel of the RACH based on the information relating to the channel request by the radiotelephone in such a way that the RACH channel with the channel request transmits additional information about the channel request. 2. A radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 1, where the radiotelephone system is a satellite radiotelephone system with at least one satellite. 3. A radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 2, in which at least one main station shall consist of a number of passageways and a path for planning, consisting of: - a path for planning radiotelephone channel requests into a designated RACH channel on the basis of the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone in such a way that the RACH with the channel request specifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 4. The radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 3, where a number of passageways are first and second passageways, and where repeated frames of the RACH channels are repeated frames of the even and odd RACH channels, the planning methods include: - a method to plan radiotelephone incoming requests into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone, and to plan radiotelephone incoming requests into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 5. The radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 1, which comprises: - A path for generating a random number to identify the selected frame of the RACH channel to be used by the radiotelephone to request a channel into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; - A path for mapping, which comprises a path to map the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone into one of the designated channels of the RACH channel in the selected frame of the RACH channel identified by the random number on the basis of information relating to the incoming channel request with regard to the radiotelephone channel request, in such a way that the RACH channel with the incoming channel request transmits additional information about the incoming channel request. 6. A radiotelephone communication system, which consists of: - a number of radiotelephones; - at least one main station; - a number of radiotelephone traffic channels used by radiotelephones to communicate via radiotelephone through at least one main station; - a randomly generated, repeating frame RACH input channel used by radiotelephones to request input into a radiotelephone traffic channel by placing an input channel request message in the RACH; and - a circuit that maps radiotelephone input channel requests into a designated channel of the RACH based on information about the radiotelephone input channel request in such a way that the RACH channel receiving the input request transmits additional information about the input channel request. 7. A radiotelephone system as defined in Claim 6, whereby the radiotelephone system shall be of the satellite type with at least one satellite. 8. A radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 7, where at least one base station shall consist of a number of passageways and circuits consisting of: - A circuit that arranges channel requests by radiotelephones into one of the designated RACH channels on the basis of the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone, in such a way that the RACH channel to which the channel request is made specifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 9. The radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 8, where certain passageways are first and second passageways, and where repeating frames of RACH channels are repeating frames of even and odd RACH channels, shall consist of: - a circuit that maps radiotelephone channel requests into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone, and maps radiotelephone channel requests into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 10. A radiotelephone communication system as defined in Claim 6, which shall consist of: - A random number generator that identifies the selected frame of the RACH channel to be used by the radiotelephone to request a channel entry into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; - A circuit consisting of a circuit that maps the channel entry request by the radiotelephone into a designated channel of the RACH channel in the selected frame of the RACH channel identified by the random number on the basis of information relating to the radiotelephone channel entry request, in such a way that the RACH channel with the channel entry request transmits additional information about the channel entry request. 11. The procedure for requesting an entry channel for a radiotelephone communication system consists of several radiotelephones, at least one base station, several radiotelephone traffic channels used by radiotelephones for radiotelephone communication through at least one base station, and a random entry channel (RACH) which includes repeated frames of the RACH used by radiotelephones to request an entry channel into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels by entering an entry channel request message into the RACH. The entry channel request procedure consists of the following steps: - Scheduling the radiotelephone entry channel request into a designated channel of the RACH based on the information related to the radiotelephone entry channel request, in such a way that the RACH channel with the entry channel request sends additional information about the entry channel request. 12. The means specified in Claim 11, where the radiotelephone communication system is a satellite radiotelephone communication system with at least one satellite. 13. The procedure specified in Reputation 12, where a home station consists of at least a certain number of passageways, where the layout procedure consists of: - Laying out radiotelephone access request requests into a designated RACH channel on the basis of the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone in such a way that the RACH channel to which the access request is made specifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 14. The procedure specified in Claim 13, where a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where repeating frames of the RACH channels are repeating frames of the even and odd RACH channels, the layout procedure consists of: - Laying out a radiotelephone entry request into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone; and - Laying out a radiotelephone entry request into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 15. The procedure specified in Claim 11, whereby the planning procedure is preceded by the following steps: -Generation of a random number to identify the selected frame of the RACH channel to be used by the radiotelephone to request a channel entry into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; -The planning procedure, which consists of the procedure of planning the radiotelephone channel entry request into one of the designated channels of the RACH channel in the selected frame of the RACH channel identified by the random number on the basis of information relating to the radiotelephone channel entry request, in such a way that the RACH channel containing the channel entry request transmits additional information about the channel entry request. 16. A radiotelephone consisting of: - a path for communication with at least one base station of a radiotelephone communication system using one channel of a certain radiotelephone traffic channel; and - a path for mapping a radiotelephone access channel request of one channel of the radiotelephone traffic channel into a designated random access channel (RACH) based on information about the radiotelephone access channel request in such a way that the RACH channel holding the access channel request transmits additional information about the access channel request. 17. Radiotelephone as defined in Claim 16, where the radiotelephone system is at least one satellite radiotelephone system. 18. The radiotelephone as defined in Claim 17, where a base station shall at least consist of a number of passageways and a planning path consisting of: - a path to plan radiotelephone access channel requests into a designated RACH on the basis of the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone in such a way that the RACH on which the access channel request is made specifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 19. Radiotelephone as specified in Clause 18, where a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where the even and odd RACH channels, by means of the following layout: - A layout for radiotelephone access requests into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone, and for layout for radiotelephone access requests into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 20. The radiotelephone as defined in claim 16, where the RACH is in the repeating frame of the RACH channel, shall consist of: - a path to generate a random number to identify the selected frame of the RACH channel to be used by the radiotelephone to request an entry channel into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; - a path to map the radiotelephone entry request into the RACH channel identified by the random number based on the information relating to the radiotelephone entry request, in such a way that the RACH channel containing the entry request transmits additional information about the entry request. 21. A radiotelephone consisting of: - a transceiver that communicates with at least one base station of the radiotelephone communication system using a number of radiotelephone traffic channels; and - a circuit that maps radiotelephone incoming channel requests for one of the radiotelephone traffic channels into a designated random access channel (RACH) based on information relating to the radiotelephone incoming channel request in such a way that the RACH channel with the incoming channel request transmits additional information with the incoming channel request. 22. Radiotelephone as defined in Claim 21, where the radiotelephone communication system is a satellite radiotelephone communication system with at least one satellite. 23. A radiotelephone as defined in Claim 22, where a base station shall consist of at least a number of passageways, the circuits of which consist of: - a circuit that routes radiotelephone access requests into a designated RACH on the basis of the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone in such a way that the RACH on which the access request is routed specifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 24. Radiotelephone as defined in Claim 23, where there are a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where the RACH channels are even and odd RACH channels, the circuit consists of: - a circuit that maps radiotelephone access requests into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone, and maps radiotelephone access requests into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 25. A radiotelephone as defined in Representation 21, where the RACH channel shall be present in the RACH channel repeater frame, shall consist of: - a random number generator that identifies the selected RACH channel frame to be used by the radiotelephone to request a channel entry into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; - a circuit containing the circuit that maps the channel entry request by the radiotelephone into the designated RACH channel in the selected RACH channel frame identified by the random number on the basis of information relating to the radiotelephone channel entry request in such a way that the RACH channel containing the channel entry request transmits additional information about the channel entry request. 26. The operation of a radiotelephone, which consists of the following steps: - The mapping of radiotelephone channel requests for a particular channel of radiotelephone traffic in the radiotelephone communication system into a randomly assigned channel (RACH) based on information related to the radiotelephone channel request, in such a way that the RACH channel to which the channel request is received transmits additional information about the channel request. 27. The method specified in Claim 26, where a satellite radiotelecommunication system is used with at least one satellite. 28. The procedure as specified in Claim 27, where the radiotelephone communication system consists of a number of passageways, the planning procedure consists of the following steps: - Planning the radiotelephone access request into the RACH channel on the basis of the closest passageway to the radiotelephone. 29. The procedure as specified in Claim 28, where a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where the RACH channels are even and odd, shall be as follows: - The arrangement of radiotelephone access requests shall be made into the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone; and - The arrangement of radiotelephone access requests shall be made into the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 30. The procedure specified in Claim 26, where RACH channels shall exist in the RACH channel repeating frame, and where the planning procedure shall be performed by the following steps: -Generating a random number to identify the selected frame of the RACH channel to be used by the radiotelephone to request a channel into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels; -The planning procedure consisting of the steps of planning the radiotelephone channel request into the designated RACH channel in the selected frame of the RACH channel identified by the random number based on information about the radiotelephone channel request, in such a way that the RACH channel containing the channel request transmits additional information about the channel request. 31. The main station of a radiotelephone communication system communicates with a number of radiotelephones. The main station consists of: - a channel for receiving radiotelephone traffic channels used by radiotelephones for radiotelephone communication with the main station; - a channel for receiving random incoming channel (RACH) channels, including the repeated RACH frames used by radiotelephones to request an incoming channel in one of the radiotelephone traffic channels by placing the incoming channel request message in the RACH channel; and - a channel for decoding additional information relating to the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone based on the identification of the RACH channel that received the incoming channel request message, in such a way that the receiving RACH channel will transmit additional information about the incoming channel request. 32. The main station as specified in Claim 31, whereby the main station is the home station of the satellite radiotelecommunication system. 33. The parent station as specified in Claim 32, which shall consist of a number of passages and a decoding method consisting of: - a method to decode the nearest channel identifier to the radiotelephone on the basis of the RACH channel identification to which the channel request is received in such a way that the RACH channel receiving the channel request identifies the passage to the radiotelephone. 34. The parent station as specified in Claim 33, where a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where the RACH repeating frames are repeating frames of the even and odd RACH channels, the decoding paths are as follows: - a path to decode a radiotelephone channel request in the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone, and to decode a radiotelephone channel request in the even RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 35. The main station of a radiotelephone communication system communicates with a number of radiotelephones using a number of radiotelephone traffic channels and a random incoming channel (RACH) channel, which includes repeated frames of the RACH channel used by radiotelephones to request an incoming channel into one of the radiotelephone traffic channels. By inputting a channel request message into the RACH channel, the main station consists of: - A circuit that decodes additional information related to the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone based on the identification of the RACH channel that received the incoming channel message, in such a way that the RACH channel receiving the incoming channel request transmits additional information about the incoming channel request. 36. The main station as specified in Claim 35, whereby the main station is a satellite radiotelecommunications main station. 37. The main station as specified in Claim 36, which shall consist of a number of passageways, the circuits of which shall consist of: - a circuit that decodes the nearest passageway identification to the radiotelephone on the basis of the RACH channel identification which has been requested in such a way that the RACH channel that has received the access request identifies the nearest passageway to the radiotelephone. 38. The main station as specified in claim 37, where a number of passageways, namely the first and second passageways, and where the repeating frames of the RACH channels are repeating frames of the even and odd RACH channels, shall consist of the following circuits: - A circuit that decodes the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone on the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passageway is closest to the radiotelephone and decodes the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone on the RACH channel to indicate that the second passageway is closest to the radiotelephone. 39. How the base station of a radiotelephone communication system works: It communicates with a number of radiotelephones using traffic channels. A number of radiotelephones use these channels to request access to one of the radiotelephone traffic channels by inputting a random incoming channel (RACH) request message. This includes repeated frames of the RACH message that are fed into the RACH channel. The method consists of the following steps: - Extracting additional information related to the incoming channel request by the radiotelephone based on the identification of the RACH channel receiving the incoming channel request message, in such a way that the RACH channel receiving the request transmits the incoming channel request information; 40. The method specified in Claim 39 where the mother station is the mother station of the satellite radiotelecommunication system. 41. The procedure specified in Claim 40, in which a parent station shall consist of at least a certain number of passages and the decoding procedure shall consist of the following steps: - Decoding the nearest radiotelephone passage identifier on the basis of the identification of the RACH channel to which the passage request was received, in such a way that the RACH channel to which the nearest radiotelephone passage request was received. 42. The procedure specified in Claim 41, where a number of passages shall be the first and second passages, and where repeating frames of the RACH channels shall be repeating frames of the even and odd RACH channels, shall consist of the following steps: - decoding the radiotelephone channel request in the odd RACH channel to indicate that the first passage is closest to the radiotelephone; and - decoding the radiotelephone channel request in the odd RACH channel to indicate that the second passage is closest to the radiotelephone.
