The packing component consists of an upper and lower plate connected to the upper plate, an absorbent core positioned between the upper and lower plates, and a pair of transverse leg sleeves with near and distal edges positioned adjacent to the longitudinal edges of the packing component; (b) a pair of posterior ear flaps extending laterally from the near edge of the transverse leg sleeves in the posterior lumbar region; (c) a pair of anterior ear flaps extending laterally from the near edge of the transverse leg sleeves in the anterior lumbar region; and (d) at least one non-woven reinforcing material connected to either the posterior or anterior ear flaps. The non-woven reinforcing material is considered not to be superimposed on the packing component.
