A process for the attachment of fragrances to textiles during washing, which involves the contact of the stained and/or soiled textile to be washed with a solution or dispersion in water containing a carrier of the fragrance that consists of (i) at least 90% by weight of isolated particles of smectite and/or zeolite, (ii) a fragrance, and (iii) a fabric-adhesive agent consisting of at least one anionic detergent compound, a nonionic detergent compound, or a cathionic compound selected from the group of primary, secondary, and tertiary amines and their soluble salts, diamine and diammonium salts, and quaternary, ammonium, phosphonium, and sulfonium compounds. The said fabric-adhesive agent comes into contact with the said particles and at least partially coats them. Carriers containing aromatic substances will have approximately 5% less non-cathionic detergent compounds.
