Disposable pull-up diapers consist of an outer garment in the form of shorts with a front area, a back waist area, and a crotch area extending between the front and back waist areas. The front waist area is connected to the back waist area along its opposite transverse side edges to create a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. A liquid absorbent pad is attached to the inside of the outer garment and extends across the crotch area into the front and back waist areas. The pull-up diaper features a first elastic band extending under tension along the circumference near the waist opening, and a second elastic band extending under tension along the circumference near the top of the leg openings. The liquid absorbent pad has an anterior-posterior layer consisting of a permeable top layer and an impermeable back layer. The liquid-absorbing core is installed between the top and back panels; its end is positioned anterior-posteriorly parallel to the core and is a single piece with the back panel protruding from the side of the core. A barrier sleeve is parallel to this end and has a free end that covers a portion of the front panel of the pad, folded inward and able to stand upright. The absorbent pad's outer front and back ends are attached to the inside of the outer cover between elastic band 1 near the waist and elastic band 2 near the leg opening. The barrier sleeve has elastic band 3 attached to the top panel in an inward fold and stretches anterior-posteriorly towards the free end, and elastic band 4 stretches anterior-posteriorly towards the base end. At least one row of elastic band 4 intersects elastic band 2 at the front and back of the diaper. Elastic band 2 does not restrict the stretch of elastic band 4, and elastic band 4 does not restrict the stretch of elastic band 2. Both sections work together to tighten around the wearer's legs.
