Abstract

A device for reading debit cards (3) has a slot (1) for receiving the debit card (3), which is guided at one transition point (10) into the intervention gap (9). A stop cushion (8), which acts as a stop mechanism, together with the stop cushions (6:7), prevents the debit card (3) from penetrating into the intervention gap (9). In the area of the stop cushion (8), a refraction surface (11) is constructed in such a way that any foreign object inserted into slot (1) is not blocked by the refraction surface (11) on the stop cushion (8), but is deflected into the intervention gap (9).

Claims (10)

1. A type of value card reader which has an opening for the value card in one direction (R) to enter the passage from which the value card can be read, and a mechanism which is arranged to guide and align the value card by which the value card can be positioned on a support plane for reading data, a collection slot for receiving foreign objects and stopping alignment in the passage for positioning the value card so that the penetration depth (E) of the value card in the direction (R) to the passage can be restricted in a way in which the value card cannot pass to the reading position. It is characterized by a passage (1) through which the value card (3) is inserted into the opening into the collection slot (9) laterally and in the (R) direction, and is further equipped with a deflection mechanism (11) to guide foreign objects (12) out of the passage into the collection slot (9). 2. The device under claim 1 is characterized by the fact that the collected space (9) is shaped and arranged relative to passage (1) so that foreign matter (12), which is introduced into passage (1) through opening (2) and will not be automatically discharged into the collected space (9), can be transported into the collected space (9) by a valuecard (3) which is inserted into passage (1) after foreign matter (12). 3. The device under claim 2, which is characterized by the opening (2) through which the valuecard (3) is inserted is restricted by a deflection mechanism (11) which is modified to guide the foreign object (12) out of passage (1) into the collection slot (9). 4. The device according to claim 3 is characterized by the passage (1) in the opening (2) through which the valuecard (3) is inserted is stopped (8) in the form of a support on the lever (4) which the lever (4) can rotate in a certain range in the horizontal plane and on the support of the valuecard (3) can be deflected by a deflection mechanism (11) out of its resting position against a force (F) by which the valuecard (3) is deflected laterally until the valuecard (3) is positioned for reading, when the lever (4) is deflected to the maximum extent to which the deflection mechanism (11) consists of deflection surfaces on the lever (4). 5. The device under claim 1 which has the special characteristic that the passage (1) has a transition position (10) into the collected space (9) from a position in which the width (B) is increased in the insertion direction (R) of the valuecard (3). 6. The device under claim 5 which has the special characteristic that the change position (10) is set into the rear of the open end (2) from the stop (8) of the deflection mechanism (11). 7. The device under claim 5, which is characterized by the change position (10) being set behind the stop (8) of the deflection mechanism (11) into the opening (2) by half the length of the valuecard (3). 8. The device under claim 4 which has the special characteristic that the width (B) of passage (1) at the transition position (10) of passage (1) to the collected space (9) is increased in a stepped manner (Z) which is at least equal to the distance (W) of the deflection mechanism (11) that penetrates into the passage. 9. The device under claim 5 which is characterized by the width (B) of passage (1) at the transition position (10) of passage (1) to the collected space (9) shall be increased in a stepped manner (Z) which is at least equal to the distance (W) of the arm (4) that passes through by the deflection mechanism (11) to the passage of the resting position. 10. The device under claim 1 which is of a special nature in which the collected space (9) is formatted to open partially to the side and/or downward at least to guide foreign matter (12) out of the passage (1) of the device.
