Abstract

DC60 (13/10/57) This invention relates to cells genetically modified to their wild type such that they have reduced ppGppase activity compared to their wild type, and to adding either essential amino acids, preferably serine-derived essential amino acids, preferably methionine or tryptophan to a feed additive comprising the cells; to a method of preparing cells producing excess essential amino acids, preferably serine-derived essential amino acids, preferably methionine or tryptophan comprising preparing cells containing knockout genes coding for ppGppase; and to a method of preparing essential amino acids, preferably serine-derived essential amino acids, preferably methionine or tryptophan comprising the steps of a) culturing cells according to one aspect of the present invention or to any aspect thereof, and b) optionally purifying the amino acids.

1. : DC60 (13/10/57) The present invention relates to cells genetically modified to their wild type such that they have reduced ppGppase activity compared to their wild type, and to adding a preferred essential amino acid, preferably an essential amino acid derived from serine, preferably methionine or tryptophan to the animal feed additive comprising the cells; to a method of preparing cells producing an excess of the preferred essential amino acid, preferably an essential amino acid derived from serine, preferably methionine or tryptophan comprising preparing cells containing a knockout gene coding for ppGppase; and to a method of preparing the preferred essential amino acid, preferably an essential amino acid derived from serine, preferably methionine or tryptophan comprising the steps of a) culturing the cells according to aspect one.
