Claims (16)

The frame structure of a reel, which includes the spool, swivel, and handle connected to the swivel for rotation, shall be mounted on a fishing rod. The frame structure shall consist of (a) a frame assembly that holds the handle and swivel in a rotatable manner, and that supports the spool; this frame assembly has sides into which openings are specified; and (b) a cover assembly which consists of (i) a cover piece that is detachably attached to the frame assembly and a cover for the openings in the frame assembly; and (ii) a mounting leg assembly that extends from the cover assembly; this mounting leg assembly has a distal end fitted with a rod mounting assembly.

The reel which comprises (i) the frame structure of the reel which comprises (a) a frame assembly which contains an internal area for receiving the swivel drive mechanism and a side which has an opening in contact with such internal area defined; such frame assembly shall be without a mounting leg assembly, and (b) a cover which comprises (1) a cover assembly which is detachably attached to such frame assembly and a cover for such opening in such frame assembly, and (2) a mounting leg assembly which protrudes from such cover assembly; such mounting leg assembly has a distal end fitted with a rod mounting assembly, (ii) a swivel which is supported rotatably on such frame assembly, (iii) the spool which is supported on such frame assembly, (iv) the swivel drive mechanism, and (v) the handle which is connected to such swivel drive mechanism.
